I'm now operating in waves of enthusiasm and futility at my job. Everyone wants me to work for them, but nobody wants to take care of me and my empty pockets. Sure, I get paid more than some people, but for the kind of shit I do here, I should be making about 10k more. I could go to another company, but they typically expect me to know C++ and Oracle and all sorts of other crap that I still wouldn't be adequately paid to have in my proverbial arsenal, ready at their disposal whenever someone "needs a favor". I've hit a deadend with all Directors, and my only other recourse is at the executive level. Time to setup interviews outside and plan a sit-down with someone in August. It's been 3 months since I last brought this up, so I feel I'm entitled to bitch at them.

Otherwise, things aren't so hot. Hot outside, but life is a little meh. Everyone is stressed out or extremely busy, or both. And I'm tired like every day. I found a little bit of relaxation last week, but this week is killer. I can't wait to drink myself stupid on Friday.

On the up side, I revamped my forums and people seem pleased. There's a few interesting news and tidbits out there, which is a nice change from the typical "I like/hate/don't care this movie/music/video game/website". Everyone is usually busy lately with summer things to do anyway, so it's cool.

Turns out, despite the rumbling and jarring that my car produces on the road, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just a little crappy car, that's all. It'll do just fine for a few years as long as it's under warranty.

Well I've complained enough. I'll have some more optimistic things to say soon, I'm sure. Hey at least I'm not eating ramen noodles and dollar store food anymore!

Haha, thats what I SHOULD be doing.

And nothing wrong with a little LJ bitching...its nice for stress relief.

The company problem is that they are too obsessed with "guidelines." I wonder what it will take for them to dump the "merit increase" and just give people what they are worth...

NOBODY does that. If they can pay you less, they will. The problem is that you and I accepted job offers for less money. That's almost entirely our fault.
Merit Increase is another term for 'raise'. There's a standard percentage, and then there's special exceptions that the higher authorities approve. Obviously, I didn't fall into that situation. :P
